Not ready to auction?
Powell Auction & Realty also offers traditional real estate listings.
Let our team at Powell Auction & Realty present you with a no obligation marketing plan that best suits your selling needs.
The finest assets in the world are sold at auction, including fine art, antiques, racehorses, and collector cars, among other collectibles. Selling real estate should be no different.
At Powell Auction & Realty, we are dedicated to helping Sellers receive the highest value for their property, by securing a completely contingent-free sale in a timely manner. When selling real estate, Sellers deserve absolute certainty when it comes to selling their most valuable asset. Selling at auction establishes certainties that no other method of selling can guarantee.
Each year we sell properties ranging from small unimproved building lots, farms consisting of hundreds of acres, commercial development land, and multi-million dollar lakefront properties – just to name a few, with no project being too big or too small for our team to handle. After being in business for over 50 years and over 250 years of combined auctioneer experience, Powell Auction & Realty holds the skills and experience needed to facilitate any type of real estate auction. We handle every aspect of the auction, including open houses & property showings, photography & videography, marketing & advertising, the auction itself, and more. Our real estate auctions are entered into the Knoxville Area Association of Realtors MLS where over 6,000 licensed agents have the opportunity to view and show the properties, as well as syndicated to over 100 real estate websites, including Zillow, Trulia and Realtor.com.
Being tasked with the responsibility of liquidating the estate of a family member or friend that has passed is an overwhelming and often daunting challenge, in an already difficult time. At Powell Auction & Realty, we strive to assist in making this transition the most stress-free experience possible for all involved. Over our more than 50 years in business, we have continually been told by individuals and families that they “don’t even know where to begin” to start the process of liquidating a loved one’s possessions. The answer is simple – you don’t have to. We will.
At Powell Auction & Realty, we want you to feel confident in the service being offered and the staff handling your sale. Our company and staff are fully licensed, insured and bonded, to ensure complete peace of mind when conducting your sale. Our staff holds over 300 years of combined experience and an average of 25 years of experience per employee. All employees are covered with worker’s compensation insurance and our general liability insurance covers any risks that may concern you. We closely work with estate executors, estate attorneys, individuals dispersing estates, trust officers, private collectors, and individuals downsizing, among other individuals and entities. Powell Auction & Realty offers a complete estate settlement service, where we sell both the real estate and personal property at the same time.
Choosing to liquidate an estate through the auction method of selling is no-brainer. Auctions use a competitive bidding model where prices are always negotiated upwards and sell for whatever the highest bidder is willing to pay, versus pricing items too low or too high and having to negotiate the price downward or reduce the price in order for it to sell. We want to help you earn the greatest revenue possible for your loved one’s prized possessions
We love working with dealers too!

From offering over 2,500 vehicles per year at auction, Powell Auction & Realty’s public auto auction is the selling and buying opportunity you have been looking for. Powell Auction was the first public auto auction in the state of Tennessee and is the only public auto auction in the Knoxville area.
Our auctions are conducted the first and third Saturdays of each month, with over 100 cars, trucks and SUVs in each auction. Everyone is welcome to attend, including dealers and the general public! Our auctions allow the general public to buy vehicles like the dealers do. Inventory includes private classic car collections, dealer trade-ins, individual owned vehicles, bankruptcy vehicles, estate vehicles, and more. Take the headache out of selling your vehicles and let us do the work for you.
